This bimonthly was begun in the mid fifties by J.N. Walton whose parents bought the rights and library of the Bolsover brothers who had published SCD&SA prior to World War II and renamed it SCD & Steam Marine Motors after the war. Walton's interest, persistance and tenacity made it preeminent in its field which filled the gap between modelmakers toy steam and the large commercial railway, marine and electricity generating plants. A move from the Isle of Man to England and a change to "Steam Power", as an attempt to broaden interest, simply discouraged the existing subscriber base, and publication ceased.
Some publications are still being offered in revision including a fine book on Doble Steam Cars, and an excellent encyclopedia on steam engines. Many reprints of historical brochures and drawing sets are available. An official web page is found at www.lightsteampower.freeserve.co.uk
